A limited edition hardcover reissue of Rachel Carson’s The Sea Around Us. First published in 1951, The Sea Around Us won the National Book Award and the Burroughs Medal. Carson, a marine biologist, is perhaps best known for her book, Silent Spring, which concerned widespread pesticide spraying. This resulted in the spawning of the modern environmental movement, as well as (indirectly) the EPA.
Alfred Eisenstaedt was a noted American photographer best known for his work with Life Magazine. His most famous image is that of a young sailor kissing adental assistant in Times Square, New York on V-J Day.
